I am about to be on my way to Alaska!!! I leave on Saturday (August 6th) from Tulsa to Salt Lake and then arrive in Anchorage! I will be spending one week in Anchorage for meetings and then I will fly to Bethel and then to Marshall! I heard from my principal that my house in Marshall is 2 bedroom/1 bathroom and that new housing will hopefully be finished by the end of October.
Right now I am very calm... maybe because nothing has really hit me yet....
Reality: I will be getting on a plane in less than 48 hours to go to a state that is so completely different from what I have always known. I am about to leave everyone I have ever known with the exception of one friend. I am about to have my first job and first house in a state I have never even visited. I am about to be responsible for the education of 12 first and second graders. I am about to be successful (I hope) in estimating the amount of food my friend and I will need for 5 months straight because there are no stores near our village. I am about to not use a car or cell phone for 5 months.
But as for now, I am texting some friends, about to make some phone calls, finishing up some packing, and dreaming about what the future holds. I am still calm and actually very excited! It is a new chapter with new experiences and memories just waiting for me. I know that whatever happens, happens. What doesn't kill me will only make me stronger. God will be with me every step of the way.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
